How do I excercise/make my chest bigger (male?

HOw long would it take to get a bigger chest?

  • i'm 5'10 and 175lbs. I know it will vary from person to person and dependent on how hard you work. But roughly, how long would it take for me to see physical results and what would be a good workout regime - how many exercises to do/how many days/how many days rest etc. Appreciate all help guys.

It might anything from a month to a full year to see noticable difference. But since you're asking on workout regimes, exercises etc I'm going to take a wild guess and say that you're new into bodybuilding. People who have just started lifting weights and eating properly will see much more gains much quicker than a person who's been lifting for years. But it also depends on genetics, age, diet and exercise. Anyway let's say you go everything right, you can gain about 2-5 lbs of muscle each month (with the higher range being good genetics, and the lower range being poor genetics). Also I wouldn't recommend working out the chest only, you need to grow proportionally (you can look really weird having a large chest by small arms, back, legs etc). In any case, the workout regimes depends on you. I personally train my chest only once a week, I do 5 exercises which are: Flat bench presses (4 sets 8 reps) Incline Bench presses (4 sets 8 reps) Flat dumbbell flyes (3 sets 8 reps) Incline dumbbell flyes (3 sets 8 reps) Cable crossovers (3 sets 8 reps). The amount of sets and reps should be pretty much the same as mine, as to how many exercises per week it depends on your program. I do 5 day splits so I only work out the chest once a week, this means 5 exercises and 7 days of recovery. If you plan on doing it 2 times a week you need to do 2-3 exercises and leave at least 3 days of recovery. If you plan on 3 times a week you need to do only one exercise, and leave at least a day for recovery. More than 3x a week would be overtraining.
