Who or what do you think the antichrist to be?
-
“You have heard that antichrist is coming,” wrote the inspired apostle long ago. (1 John 2:18) How intriguing those words are! For centuries, people have pondered their meaning. Who is the antichrist? When will he come? What will he do when he does come? THE list of those charged with being the antichrist is a long one. In the past, those labeled “antichrist” included Jews, the Catholic papacy, and Roman emperors. For example, when Emperor Frederick II (1194-1250) chose not to join a Crusade on behalf of the church, Pope Gregory IX named him the antichrist and excommunicated him. Gregory’s successor, Innocent IV, excommunicated him again. In response, Frederick declared Innocent to be the antichrist. http://www.watchtower.org/e/20061201/article_02.htm INFO TO HELP EXPOSE THE ANTICHRIST.

Answer:
Greetings, Here are some edited statements from various articles: 1Jn 4:2, 3: By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist, of which you heard that it was coming, and now it is in the world already. 2Jn 7: For many deceivers have gone out into the world, men who will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh; such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. (RSV) We can see that the antichrist is a liar and a deceiver, bent on destroying a person's relationship with Christ and with God. "Antichrist" means ‘against (or instead of) Christ.' So in its broadest sense, the term refers to all who oppose or lyingly claim to be the Christ or his representatives. Jesus himself said: "He that is not on my side is against me [or is antichrist], and he that does not gather with me scatters" (Lk 11:23). The words of both Jesus and John plainly indicate that the antichrist is not a single person but is made up of many individual antichrists. Moreover, because they are false prophets, one of their main objectives is religious deception. John specifically mentions apostates as among those of the antichrist by referring to those who "went out from us," abandoning the Christian congregation (1Jo 2:18, 19). It therefore includes "the man of lawlessness" or "son of destruction" described by Paul, as well as the "false teachers" Peter denounces for forming destructive sects and who "disown even the owner that bought them" (2Th 2:3-5; 2Pt 2:1). Kingdoms, nations, and organizations are similarly shown to be part of the antichrist in the symbolic description at Revelation 17:8-15; 19:19-21, cf. Ps 2:1,2. From those words it is evident that the antichrist, the apostate man of lawlessness is Satan's masterpiece. It is an imitation of organized Christianity and so an opposer of it. As a replacement of true organized Christianity, it finds its expression in present-day Christendom. The word "Christendom" is a compound word meaning "Christ's domain" or "Christ's jurisdiction." This is what has claimed and has sent out missionaries in an effort to convert all the earth to become the territory of Christendom. Their missionaries have had a part in advancing the political control as well as the commercial control of Christendom. This was directly contrary to Christ's words: "My kingdom is no part of this world," and "they [Jesus' disciples] are no part of the world" (Jn 18:36; 17:14). Further, those who can be identified as antichrists would manifest the same characteristics as Satan: liars and manslayers (Jn.8:44). Apply this basic evidence to what happened in both world wars and current conflicts. People of the same religions met on battlefields and slaughtered one another because of nationalistic differences. Each side claimed to be Christian, and each side was supported by its clergy, who claimed that God was on their side. But, the definition of a "Christian" is "one who does what Christ would do": WWJD (1Pt.2:21). That slaughter of "Christian" by "Christian" is rotten fruitage. It is a denial of any claim to being the true Church (cf. Mt.26:52). It is truly an identification of the Antichrist! Apostate Christianity has neither the spiritual strength nor the support of God's holy spirit to motivate people to follow the truthful teachings of Jesus Christ. For this reason, the result in Christendom is not true Christianity but in actuality antichrists, "weeds" unfit for the Kingdom (Mt13:24ff). Today Catholics continue to kill Catholics, Protestants kill Protestants, Muslims kill Muslims, and Mormons kill Mormons. On the other hand, Christ said his followers would be identified by love and they would even love their enemies (Jn.13:34,35; Mt.5:44; 1Jn.4:20). The Scriptures explicitly state that their only weapons would be "spiritual" teachings and they would not use "fleshly" weapons of war (2Cor.10:3-5) True Christians would not continue to kill members of their own religion in war (1Jn.3:10,15; 4:8). Only Jehovah's Witnesses meet this basic requirement and have never participated in warfare. It is constantly being demonstrated, even on this forum, that Jehovah's Witnesses meet ALL the requirements of True Christianity, while other religions do not even meet the most basic requirements of being followers of Christ. Even more, Jehovah's Witnesses have the Scriptural guarantee that they are not the antichrist and are truly Christian 1Jn 4:15 "If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God"–NIV Jehovah's Witnesses undeniably believe that Jesus is the "Son of God" (Cf. Rm. 10:9). On the other hand, there is no verse that requires one to believe that Jesus is Almighty God. Yours, BAR-ANERGES

It is unfortunate that a large number of people are seemingly unaware as to what the Bible really designates the Antichrist to be. Antichrist means against or instead of Christ. It occurs a total of five times in the Bible, singular AND PLURAL, all of them in two of John’s epistles. The term applies to *all* who deny what the Bible says about Jesus Christ, all who oppose his Kingdom, and all who mistreat his followers. This can clearly be discerned by John’s statement at 1 John 2:18 which shows that there are many individual antichrists, though all together they may form a composite 'person' designated “the antichrist.” (2 John 7) John’s statements show the term "Antichrist" to be broad in its application, embracing all those who deny that “Jesus is the Christ,” and who deny that Jesus is the Son of God who came “in the flesh.” (1 John 2:22; 1 John 4:2, 3; 2 John 7, NE, NIV) John did not restrict the appearance, existence, and activity of such antichrist to some future time only, but showed that the antichrist was also *then* present near the end of the first century C.E. when he wrote his epistles. 1 John 4:3 says: "...this is the antichrist's inspired expression which you have heard was coming, and NOW IT IS ALREADY IN THE WORLD." Antichrist is an adjective -- it means those who "deny that Christ came in the flesh visibly" It is not helpful to presume that God is secretly hiding from us "true" identities -- it is better not to allow paranoid fantasies to make you think you see evil people / leaders of idolatry where no such reasonable assumption gives us any unbiased evidence Antichrist is not the primary message of Christ's gospel : Love your neighbor and Love God with all of your being and potential !

The word christ is blasphemy. It was an insult durring the time of the apostles and it still is today. It was put into the scripture because the catholics were vile and your watchtower is brought from this same putrid pool of idiots. The anti messiah is and always was the seat of the pope and your nieve if you think that you're the first ones to see this. His seat of power is a city on seven mountains named for seven gods, he wears the religious garb of many of those gods, he decieves the world while claiming the power of the one he has you all fooled about. Here's the thing, if a man can't stand on one leg he makes another, if he still can't stand he makes another, and another and another until those legs can't tell what they hold up anymore.. You all hold up the beast.
