What is cellular data on iphone 3gs?

Iphone 3gs use without data plan. sim card problem?

  • I purchased an Iphone 3gs and set it up to where I can use it without a data plan, the only thing i need to do is put a sim card in the tray and it should work, the only problem is i do not have a sim card, so i went to AT&T and they gave me one to activate, but if I call to activate it while it is in the 3gs, they will charge me with a data plan. How can I activate a sim card with my existing number on my plan so that i can just put it into the iphone. I have a very old phone, but i had already used it many years ago, could i use that to activate it? My siblnig suggested I use his phone and call AT&T while the sim card is in it and ask them to activate it, the only problem is his sim card is already activated under that phone, could they see that and ask questions? any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

    Without a data plan you should not use your phone because when AT&t will send a message for taking a data plan then you don;t accept it your account will off.For asmart phone data plans is must.

ALL major carriers require data plans with any smartphone even if you somehow activated it without a data plan, AT&T does regular audits of their network, and can see that type of phone and plan, and will inform you that you need a data plan, if you refuse, they will cancel your account consider a service like Straight Talk, its unlimited everything for only $45 a month. they will give you the SIM card, and you can then activate it with the phone, no questions asked
