How to get relative error?

My Seagate Go-Flex 1TB Hard Drive won't get detected on my computer because of an error..How do I solve this?

• Ok as the question says my Seagate Hard Drive won't get detected on my computer! It was working fine all these days but today I disconnected it from the CPU (removed the USB Cable) so that I could clean my CPU from the inside (dust). But now when I re-connected it and booted my computer up again the Hard Drive won't get detected by Windows (I'm using XP). Here's a description of the Error 1. When I connect it my computer seems to lag a little but nonetheless it somewhat detects the portable, it shows up in 'My computer' but instead of 'Seagate Free Agent Go-Flex Drive' (I haven't changed the name) as the name it just shows 'Local Drive J' like a common drive. 2. When I click on it to access it, the computer seems to freeze for like10 secs and after that an error pops up saying ... " Cannot access drive, Inpage operation not performed" or something like that I don't remember clearly. I have tried restarting my computer ad then re-connecting the portable drive, tried restarting the computer with the drive still attached, tried connecting the drive to another computer to see if there was anything wrong with my personal computer.....but nothing seems to work. Even connecting it to another computer brings the same error. I have no idea what to do!! Please help!! Most of my data is in that drive and I would be lost without it. This hard drive isn't all that old either, just 10 months since I bought it. Please help I need to recover my data from it. I need to know if this is a common error and if it can be fixed! I don't mind even waiting as long as I know that at least the data inside is safe and can be recovered without any loss. Is this possible? Does Seagate provide such services? Can this error be fixed? Please help......I really need that data, all my projects are in it...!! P.S.: Please don't tell me I should have backed up my data on another Hard drive because you know what I come from a low-middle class family and I can't afford another one even thought they are cheaper nowadays..I had scrounged up all the Birthday money and pocket money I could just so I could buy the one that I have.

  I had this happen to me with a number of external hard drives. External hard drives usually consist of 2 parts 1 is the hard disk itself, which is exactly the same as normal internal hard disk, and a piece of adapter with capacitors that allows the usb cable connection which enters a normal sata connection, the adapter can break down(the capacitors specifically) rendering the hard disk unusable however this usb adapter can be removed and the regular sata used instead to connect this disk like a normal disk inside the computer allowing you to retrieve all the data from it, and possibly keep it inside. All you need to do in open the plastic covering using a screw driver.
