How to make a video of photos with music?

My best friend is graduating high school this week, and I wanted to make some sort of video that I could burn onto a CD and give to her. I just want to know what program I can download to my computer to make a video that I can add pictures of us to, and some songs to the background. Any suggestions will help! :)

Do you want the video to be able to be watched on a DVD/BlueRay player, or just the computer alone? In the case of DVD, you can use DVD/Blueray authoring software from any number of companies. I use one from Roxio myself. If you want to make a video to be viewed on a computer, you can do it for free with microsoft movie maker. Apple has their own built-in video editing software as well.
