Questions for conservatives who want to end “public school."?
-
How many private schools that are taking ZERO public funds would be willing to accept ANY student without regard to ability to pay, without regard to entrance exams, without regard to their learning disorders, emotional disturbances, and other disabilities...all without public funds? And don’t talk “charter” schools, because most of them are “public” schools, living off taxpayer money. I’m talking about ACTUALLY privatizing.

Answer:
Private schools, in general, would not be willing to take people without the ability to pay and shouldn't. A school is a place to learn, and private resources should be applied to that purpose in private schools....not to charity (or anything else that distracts from that purpose). That is not to say however that a voucher system would not be very useful to those with little resources to pay for a private education....and would save the public significant costs (private schools are generally much cheaper...and get far better results....as to education and a students future including future costs to society). As to students with significant learning disabilities. If a voucher system were instituted, and the system privatized.....an industry would arise to fill that gap....and it would likely be far better for those students than what they have now (as well as far better for the other students whose classes are often slowed by such problems).

Disbanding the Department of Education is not ending public school, most want education at the state level without federal involvement. A more nimble approach that is far easier to change if change is warranted. Odd how few seem to bother to research an issue. Just make an idiot of themselves.

No conservative has suggested ending public schools. Please stop lying about these things. It only makes your few honest opinions harder to believe. If they can pay, I cannot imagine a single person being declined. As for entrance exams, I am certain that there would be schools catering to the higher intellects, the middle range and the lower ranges. Free enterprise works that way. If there is a market for something a business will develop to serve that market. The great part of that would be that instead of teaching to the medium schools could teach to a far narrower level thus providing better eduction for all groups of students. What I do not understand is your comment about public money. If a school is not serving the student the school should not be entitled to that money since it really belongs to the taxpayer, not the public or the government. For that reason, vouchers would only be fair and would encourage competition as well as schools catering to all classes of students. Since 'fair' is part of the left wing mantra I am sure you would support this as well.

Education = freedom from ignorance. But, the real question is whether education should be controlled by the government. Imagine the possibilities of an educational system in which any government mandates attendance, controls the curriculum, and pays union members for the administration of it's policy. In his book, "Toward Soviet America", William Z. Foster, former head of the Communist Party USA, indicates that a National Department of Education would be one of the means used to develop a new socialist society in the U.S. Yes, imagine the possibilities, if the "education" of a Nation's youth can be controlled by the government.

I have never heard a conservative talk about ending public school. What I have noticed is that the public schools in the city where I live that were privatized turned around in a matter of months. There must be a reason. All I know is that my school system spends something like $15k per child per year and stinks. The private school I wish I could send my kid to is $5k per year. Sure wish I had that tax money back.

here is my take on the subject, we currently have a system of "school" that runs on public money, however its also CONTROLLED by Bureaucrats, my suggestion is .... that public school should be CONTROLLED by the parents of the kids who are attending that school, Parents should have the last word as to hiring or firing of teachers and setting curriculum.

I like the voucher system awhile back I over heard two teachers talking ''those parents think they run this school'' I have had a little dealings with the public school system they are completely out of control

If a priavet school accepted every student then I doubt it would still be considered "private". Ending public school would mean everyone having to go to a private school wouldn't that turn it into a public school? As in accepting all public?
Ending the US Department of Education would not end public schools; there were public schools long before 1980, when the department was created. Most public schools get their funding from state and local sources, especially property taxes.

public schools are a toilet, of gangs, violence, drugs, bulling, all the while shoving multiculturalism down our throats....If you can't afford to give your children better, then you have no business having them!
