Plan for aspiring surgeon?

How much does a Plastic surgeon make in New York City and Los Angeles?

• I want to become a plastic surgeon when I grow up and I don't know whether to work in a hospital or own my own private practice. I may be leaning toward the private practice but it's only because i want to see my family. If you think I'm in it for the money, you're wrong! You see my dad works in the hospital and I barely get to see him with all of his schedule change up and stuff. I don't even spend that much with him on Christmas, but he's only working hard to fix some of the money problems we have! So the reason I'm asking is so I know that I have enough money to support my family and not make them go through the same thing I am. Also the reason I may go with private practice is because i can schedule my own hours. I don't plan on being a plastic surgeon for a majority of my life; I do plan to retire early for my family. So how much do they make in New York and Los Angeles (those are the places I'm considering to live in, well, one of them obviously), both in a hospital and in a private practice? Answers will be appreciated unless they are not directly answering the question. Thank you for your time :)
