How, why and for what Indian culture is called great?

People watch tv and tend to glorify anything they find exotic, they close their eyes to these things because they want to imagine a place with kind people about peace and love. All cultures have problems and differences though.

All that you mention are only limited to the Ghau, or the villages/slums. In the cities, people are mostly developed. Except the following: 1) Emotional blackmailing happens everywhere in many poor relationships. 2) Few still adhere to the caste system, though they are just a basic few 3) Male child carry on the family name, hence, they are highly coveted 4) Daughter-in-laws are expected to show respect, not as a slave but as her earth-bound duty 5) Lastly, the sad system of dowry continues, in a more clandestine approach in the form of 'gifts' from the bride's side even by rich families. Boys are booked in advance... it is sad. All said and done, the younger generation are getting educated enough to defy all this silly customs. We all hope for its eradication one day. Addtnl: Of course, those backward minded individuals do not deserve to be in Western countries. They deserve all those racial attacks on them.

The problen with a society which still uses castes - is it is great if you are a Bramhain (and male) - and pants if you are an untouchable (or female). I think India is an amazing place - but I wouldn't want to trade places for the abysmal human rights problems for many of her people.

Yah there are so many problem in Indian Culture but there family relationship is strong, all time they looks after one another , in a family one is not alone . there are some problem which u mention but its not all over family. Most of theme r dutiful, honest , kindness, joyful, solder.

i dont want to settle in western countries. I dont want my kids to have sex when they are like 16.

1.crazy about male child? because a male child stays with his father to become he next head of the family or support so male child is preffered. 2.if there was that much of female feoticide did indian impored women from other nation to mate and have child.female feoticide is not only found in this nation even modern techniques that hurts people are available in western nation what do you say about that. 3.so you are treated badly by your father in law.there are lot of father inlaw ill treated like animals.what do you say about that. 4.there are savage violence against men but it is not coming to light it doesnt mean only women are suffering. 5.child marriage has its own advantage and disadvatage. 6.dowry system is bad it is abolished or trying to be abolished. 7.even love marriage has bad effect so do you think every one should give up marraige. 8.racial and cast descrimination is found in every nation. dont you know about the killing of students in us,uk,australia,etc. 9.divorce becomes a choice which will destroy the future nation and society.so it is seen as not the right choice. 10.descriminaion against the week is found in every naion. 11.because the girls becomes a carrier of another familys gean and becomes a beacon for her husbands family so it is nature for women to stay with her husband. 12.emotional inoterance towards other religion is because of the politicians, instead of giving the nation to the natives they gave it to every one. 13.every one has manipulaive nature it is our job to find and stay away from them.it is childish to blame for your lack of ability. 14.is the government really trying to do all that you menioned.if that is true then why take census based on cast.and why give reservaion to women,and other communiy,why give money for pilgrimage for muslims,christians,hindus.what about other relegions.why take money only from hindu temple.try and take from muslim and christian church.why give tax free for muslim and christians. dont be fooled by the policy of politicans they are doing it for there own benifit not for peoples cause. no one likes to settil in western nation people doing white collor job only prefeer to settil in western nation. the culture is not in what you mentioned it is the guts and the courage to not give up no matter what kind of hard ship it faced. it is invaded by monglians,muslims,christains,french,dutc… still the culture is available.there are joint family which is living happyly even though in hard times. indian sociey is build on sacrifice of great people like nethaji,gandhji,jasi rani,shivaji,bagaht singh,people who died in kargil war,indo china war lots and lots of people have sacrificed there freedom so that others can live there are thousands of books that tells about there sacrfice.dont make fun of the sacrifice of those good and honest and brave people.compared with them what you said about is nothing.this is the glory of indian culture it is the pride every indian takes about indian culture.thank you.

Why the **** are you blaming any culture for your plight.There are some or the other problems are in all the cultures.Why don't you simply go to a police station and file a complaint against the culprits harassing you instead of yelling and crying.

Firstly, sort out your grammar. I agree with the majority of what you said....all of it is stupid! But these are only the values of traditional Indian people. And personally, I think it is a very backward way of living and thinking in a modern world. But, Indian culture also has LOTS of positives too, and like ANY other culture has negatives. I believe it is much more peaceful!

(1)Any rules in human society that do not protect woman should be pulled down.All humans are one. we ,all the human race, would progress to a scientific,rationalistic and socialistic culture where all humans are equal and women get a place of great respect. Human culture anywhere on earth should first treat woman as the form of the "mother goddess" and give her that affection and central place in society (2)But the "golden modern culture"treats woman as a sex toy.That is not permissible and such a cynical light hearted attitude towards women will be punished with a heavy hand. No pity. (3)Now,coming to Indian culture I pray to furnish the following reply. How? Due to its uncompromising insistence on truth,goodness and nonviolence Why? (4)Hinduism is other worldly i.e. it is interested only on the life after death.It treats all humans as equal before the phenomenon of death. Its morality and otherworldly philosophy is not property of any caste or race .It only teaches a way of inner life purely personal. So one should not run it down. This philosophy taught by Geetha and elucidated in stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata and concerns only with the ideal philosophical life of a human being . For other things there are Indian constitution,Indian legal system ,the Indian penal codes ,the procedures of politics,economics etc. Indian culture deals only with spiritual matters. For other matters (individual safety ,protection of individual liberties, law and order,control of crime and immorality )we have to follow only the "international modern culture"applicable to all modern societies.The defects in modern culture are suffered by all societies on the planet. So do not run down the Indian culture which is important only on the philosophic and spiritual plane and gives importance only to "life after death" and treats the "life before death "as only an illusion ..
