Help with Pointe please?

I'm a Beginner on Pointe - PLEASE HELP!?

  • Hey, i just got my first pair of pointe shoes a week ago. I am 15 and my ballet teacher said i am ready. I still haven't used my pointe shoes in class yet, but i have been putting them on and practicing rising in them at home. When ever i'm on pointe a feel pain in my right toe. I took my pointe shoes off to find that i have this massive bump on my right toe! It only appears when i'm on pointe and a couple of hours after i take my shoes off. I only went on pointe for a couple of minutes and then the pain got to unbearable. Here are two photos if you want to see (the bump is bigger and more red in real life): http://picpaste.com/DSC02584-yO3jLRp8.JPG http://picpaste.com/DSC02592-Awrn7FPO.JPG the second photo is a comparison of both toes. If you have any idea why this has happened, or any tips, PLEASE help me! Thank you so much! :)

  • Answer:

It looks to me like the beginning of either an ingrown toenail or the start of a blister. If it is a blister then you can use toe tape. (cloth medical tape) and tape your toe before you put on your shoes. If it is an ingrown toenail then you need to see a doctor. If it is hot to the touch and feels extra sore where the nail meets the skin it may be an ingrown toenail. Is the lump hard or does it feel liquid inside? It is hard to tell what is going on just from the picture but I suggest you might want to talk to your ballet teacher * Definitely not a bunion or a corn as someone else suggested.
