How can I describe this person who's upset?

OK, so I'm writing a short story and I'm a little bit stuck on how to fully describe the reaction a 14-year-old girl gives after she has just been told her father (who she was very close to) has died after only just a few hours of illness. It has to be descriptive. Thanks :)

Something along the lines of being so in shock that she doesn't believe her dad really died (she's in denial), and doesn't really show a reaction, but just seems to be in her own world. or She's so distraught and hysterical that she can't stop crying, she's hyperventilating, screaming etc.
