What did you do to lose weight?

What is the healthiest, fastest way to lose weight?

  • I have been struggling with my weight for about 5 years now. I am not morbidly obese but I am obese to the point that my legs and feet are hurting constantly and that’s something I cannot get used to, for it very seldom happened to me when I was at a healthy weight. I am also experience other complications which are obvious complications one would have while overweight , need I say more? The only obstacle is getting into my way of reaching my weight loss goals is my love for food, including those with lots of carbs. I've tried Weight Watchers before and I noticed that I was losing at 2 pounds per week, but I'm not sure what caused me quit the program in the first place, but it was like I was pretty much able to eat anything I wanted and still lose the weight, like getting the best of both worlds! The weight might have not was coming off as quick as I wanted it to, but I was losing weight. There was a doctor who once told me that if I wanted to lose weight quick that I should cut out bakery foods (cakes, cookies, bread, etc), white rice, pasta, soda and I think he said fruit juice too, I don't quite remember. But it was like he knew for sure that the weight would come off if I followed this diet plan. I was thinking about taking his advice and going on this type of diet, basically a low carb diet, but the only thing is that I am getting mixed opinions about carb-free diets. Some say your body needs carb for energy, but in moderation; others say good carbs come from fiber , and besides those from fruits and veggies, carbs from fiber is pretty much all the carbs you need; other say that if you completely ban carbs from your diet, you may feel deprived of your favorite-carb foods. I am hearing so many mixed opinions about dieting, and that has caused me to become skeptical of following a set diet plan because I don’t want to put in all of the effort without seeing any results in my weight loss. I also want to be able to keep the weight off, and I hear that in order to do that, crash dieting isn't the answer, which I agree completely. I want to lose at least 20 pounds, if not more, by August of this year. I realize if I want to do so, I have to first, make a decision on what type of diet plan I am going to follow and stick to it. That's why I am doing my research on the safest and fastest way to lose weight. I would appreciate any positive suggestions, thanks.

  • Answer:

Truthfully, I'd say (for your scenario) stick with high protein ( not pulled pork smothered in sauce but lean turkey meat/chicken breast, fish) and high veggie intake. stray away from starchy carbs like bread, pasta, rice, etc. your body does need carbs for energy but you can get sufficient carbs from MANY other things like mixed nuts, fruit, etc. Try this for starters: for 30 days..dont eat any candy, chips, soda, etc. and stick to fruits, veggies and lean meats. Also, start out walking on the treadmill for 35 mins...burn up a sweat no matter how tired/sore you are. the weight will shed off and you will appreciate the healthier life style that you are living.
