How do i know if my bunny will get pregnant?

  • WELL IVE HAD A BUNNY FOR LIKE A MONTH OR TWO THEN I GOT ANOTHER ONE LIKE A WEEK AGO BUT THE FIRST ONE I GOT WAS A GIRL BUT I DNT KNOW ABOUT THE NEW ONE SO CAN SOMEONE TELL ME AROUND WAT TIME OF DAY THEY WILL BREED IF THERE IS A TIME OH YEA AND ALSO WEN WE GOT THE NEW ONE ON THE FIRST DAY IT STARTED DIGGING HOLES IN THE GROUND THEN LIKE TWO DAYS LATER MY OTHER ALSO STARTED EVEN THOUGH SHE HAS NEVER DUG BEFORE

  • Answer:

A doe(female rabbit) can get pregnant at the age of 6 months old. They don't have a cycle like other mammals do. They are in heat all the time. If a male of 5 to 6 months old is with her for a day, she'll most likely be bred and in 33 days will have her kits(babies). Don't let the male with her all the time, too many kits for her to have. Only let them be together for a day. As you said they are digging now, I take it their pen is on the ground. This is rabbit behavior. In the wild they dig and make dens to get out of the heat and to hide from vermin(animals that want to eat them). You should have done some homework on how to take care of rabbits before this. They are not animals that like others with them, like cows or horses do. They like to be alone so DON'T keep them together, they will start to fight in time. You'll know when she is going to have her kits when she starts to pull her fur out from her belly. She will need a nesting box, Tractor Supply carries them or go on line. There are so many things you need to know, get a rabbit book and start reading it now. They don't do well in heat and sun. They die when it's hot out if in the sun. They need to be safe from birds of prey if their pen is open on top. If in a pen on the ground skunks can get them and will kill just because they can. Get them off the ground cause they will also dig out of the pen.

Firstly, quit with the caps lock. No one likes being shouted at. Secondly, quit with the text speak. People need to understand you to answer your question. Thridly, very bad idea to put to bunnies together when you're not sure on their genders. Ever heard of the expression "Breeding like rabbits"? A female rabbit reaches sexual maturity at about six months old, a male between five and six months. Rabbits have no fertile cycle which means they can breed whenever they want. An average litter size is about six though rabbits can have anywhere between 1-14 kits. They may seem cute but are you really sure you want to be finding homes for half a dozen or more rabbits? Take the new rabbit to a vets and get it sexed. If it's a boy, get it neutered or rehome it. If you've already put them together and you do end up with kits, rehome the kits and get the boy neutered The normal gestation period for rabbits is about 28-31 days from mating. If the new rabbit is a boy, I highly doubt he'll have wasted any time before mating. I can't stress the fact enough that breeding rabbits when you don't know what you're doing is silly and inresponsible. Animal shelters are already full to bursting with unwanted animals, they don't need anymore. If you need any more help, feel free to contact me on: [email protected]

Kitten Tamer

if shes started to burrow than she may already be pregnant. But normally they breed in the late evening or early morning.

I agree with kitten tamer. That is some good advice. Follow it!
