Is being a light sleeper a medical condition?

Do I need immediate medical attention? Subluxation, chronic migraine history, sudden nose bleeds?

  • Medical History Over View: To begin, I am a 20 year old male with a chronic history of sever migraines. I have recently confirmed that I DO NOT have any brain tumors or other growths, via MRI and optimap optical examinations [I also have 20/20 vision]. I had my first MRI when I was three years old, and my mother also suffers from chronic migraines. When I was four years old, I was hospitalized due to an extremely invasive sinus infection. As a result I no longer have (or have very little) feeling or sensation around my sinuses, beyond skin sensations like hot and cold; with the exception of extremely painful stimuli, such as a blunt metal object impacts. I have successfully minimized my migraine attacks through various prevention methods that do not rely on medication. I have very low blood pressure, a low BMI, and have a very healthy, thoroughly planned diet. This last semester I suffered from a condition known a BPPV [Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo] which is much like motion/car sickness for those who have, like myself, suffered from its affects. I went to physical therapy, and the condition has been treated. After reviewing my medical history, my therapist informed me that my migraines, sever childhood car sickness (which I outgrew), and BPPV were all related. Years ago, my various M.D.'s confirmed that a large proportion, but not all of, my migraines are caused by stress on my eye control muscles. My therapist told me that this is likely do to some sort of subluxation, which affected my facial structure, followed by the bone refusing improperly. I have longed believed that the right side of my face is injured, mainly due to my jaw being equal in length, but not position. Additionally my right eye socket is, in the words of my optometrist, "crooked." I am aware no two sides of anyones face are exactly the same. The last 4 days I have had extremely painful migraines above and next to my right eye, and upper sinus nose bleeds (which dry before they reach my nostrils.) I am fully aware of when my nose bleeds. The bleeding is sort in duration [under 5 min], and is not frequent [every 6-8+ hours] I have treated migraines with Zomig 5mg and 10mg tablets for years, which works 99% of time. However it has not been very effective the last few days, and this worries me greatly. The pain has been near unbearable around my eye, and my jaw also hurts. I have a appointment with my primary care physician monday morning, but I am worried that I may need to seek medical attention sooner, and have considered contacting emergency services. My primary care doctor said that if I become light headed, dizzy, suddenly cold, or have blurry vision I need to take immediate action. I have felt none of those things, and feel as mentally sound as one can while having a migraine. Do I need to go to the hospital or get medical attention before monday?

  • Answer:

prolly yes. But you should just call your doctor and see what he has to say.
