Do maggots get drunk when you bury an alcoholic?

If you bury an animal will their be maggots on it?

  • My hamster died today and we are going to bury him, but I was wondering if I do bury him will there be maggots i'm just curious?

  • Answer:

I'm sorry for your loss. But if you bury your hamster then yes if he's in the ground he will become part of the earth and that includes being eaten by insects (wow, that sounds really bad). If it would make you feel better you could buy him in a wooden box, that way his body is more protected.

Yes, there may be maggots depending on how long your hampster is in the ground. I'm sorry about your hampster...

If you bury him quickly, there won't be maggots, since maggots are baby flies and a fly would have to have access to it for enough time to lay its eggs. but it will decompose and be eaten by worms, returning it to the earth. Just dig a fairly deep hole, about a foot deep, and you shouldn't see anything at the surface. That's what I did for my rats (RIP) when they died. And rats are bigger than hamsters.
