A new york city modeling agency is having open call next week for kids, they ask for parents to register and?

submit two photos, and based on the photos they are selecting kids to come to the open call..I submitted pics of my 7yr old son, and 2 yr old daughter, and the same day I got a response saying they would like me to bring my son to the open call, and 2 days later I received another saying they want my daughter to come to their open call...can someone tell me what kids should wear to open calls, and what usually happens at an open call? are they looking to sign you?thanks!!

Answer:
Your kids should wear casual clothing like they normally wear. Look at the kids in a catalog or Gap Kids ad - that's the type of look they are looking for. They don't want them dressed up or with their hair done like a pageant. They want kids who look like any kid you'd see on the playground Only about 1 out of every 100 people called in to the agency will end up getting signed For child models what matters most is their temperament, not their looks. There are millions of cute kids but very few who can sit or stand still for long periods of time, who can take direction from strangers, who would allow strangers to dress them, fix their hair and put makeup on them, will smile, laugh, jump, etc on cue. And have you verified this is a legitimate agency? You'll know if it's legit or not if they ask you to pay. A legitimate agency will never charge you for classes, photography, showcases, workshops, auditions, etc. If they try to charge you for this then you know they are a scam agency that accepts everyone who submits photos as they are only out for money, not booking your kids on jobs If they are willing to sign your kids then only make money after they book them on a job and take their commission then they are legit I would call the BBB before you go to check the agency rating, find out how long they have been in business and how many complaints have been filed against them in the past 36 months

There are good modeling agencies, and there are modeling agencies that are just out to sell modeling lessons, acting lessons, and photography services. Be careful with your wallet. Before you go, watch "The Music Man", and pay attention to how he manipulates the parents of the kids he is selling instruments to.
