Best rubber shad for bass fishing?

Rubber worm fishing for bass?!?

  • Hey there. I need some tips when bass fishing with rubber worms! How should I properly fish them? How often should I jig the worm while Texas rigging the worm? What areas should I look out for while fishing? Any tips you guys can give will help a lot!!

  • Answer:

Get a pack of Senko worms (4 or 5 inches long). These are the best there are, all others are imitators. Hook is wacky worm style. This means you take an octopus hook and hook the worm directly through the center so the worm fall horizontally. Cast everywhere where there are bass, drop offs, cover, ledge, weeds....etc. Cast and let the worm sink for a few seconds, the deeper the water, the more you let it sink. Twitch it up a few times while reeling slowly....let it sink again....repeat. Most bass bite on that first horizontal fall. The worm should jiggle when it is falling. There are many different color worms, you have to experiment what works best. For starters I would go with a dark color like green. Fishing this style for bass works almost anywhere under most conditions.

There's several different types of worms, from the original curly tail worm, to the tapered finesse worm, ribbon/zipper worms and even stick baits like the senko. You can hop it, drag it, rip it, jig it. You can fish it Texas rig, Carolina rig, ball head jig, football jig, shakey head jig, wacky rig, drop shot or even weightless. It all depends on what the situation calls for, on which rigging and presentation you use. I haven't learned it all yet for sure, but around this time, you find the spawning beds and use a more finesse setup, like a drop shot, wacky rig or shakey head.

besides the wacky rig,you can rig it through the head, about a half inch, then poke the hookpoint out and then turn it around and bury it back into the worm down at the midpoint of the worm so it lays straight, and doesn't twirl when you crank it in,this is weedless rigged,or add a weight before the eye of the hook and you have texas rigged it.I don't add any weight at all,and toss it to a likely spot, wait a while for it to sink, and they'll hit it on the way down.jig it up,and wait then again, slowly work it.if you think you are working it too slowly, then slow down more.
