Losing weight and using muscle powder or milk?

Okay so here's the deal. I'm about 5'7, 210 pounds. I'm looking to drop my weight and then take on a bit of muscle. My question is, what is the best way to go about doing this ? Should I lose weight until I have slimmed down, and then start hitting the muscle supplements? My other question is how frequently do you need to live weights to end up with some muscle definition? I should note that I am NOT trying to any huge muscles or body builder type look or anything like that, I would just like to have some slight definition. I wondering if I may even need to use muscle supplements for that. I know it's kind of a vague question, so I'm just basically looking for a short, vague guideline of what I would need to do to get the idea I'm look for which is just losing weight and sliming down and adding some muscle definition. I was in your exact same shoes 5 months back. What I did, and suggest you to do, is slim down first. Do a lot of cardio like running or swimming. But also incorporate some weight lifting. But when you lift weights do low weight high repetitions. That will get you that nice cut/toned muscle look. And make sure your diet is good and healthy or else you will not change a bit. Good luck!

I would say that first you should lose a good bit of weight but don't drop it all go to about 10lbs above your weight goal then build because your muscles want calories to build so if your skinny it will be harder to gain muscle unless you want to waste your money on mass gainers or eat a bunch of food and re gain some fat. then drop it when your muscles are grown. Also building muscle takes some time. since you are just starting out you will see some gains pretty quick, like 2 -3 months but its not gonna be much like maybe 2lbs of lean muscle.
