Help in finding out my career?

Help finding a "Real World" career?

  • I got my degree in Physics about a year ago now but I am having trouble finding a job that interests me. To be honest, since I've graduated, I've begun to lose interest in a scientific career, and the whole academic thing in general. I still understand the appeal of these things but I'm just not passionate about it anymore. I'm more interested in people these days as opposed to abstract ideas and want to be a part of the 'Real World', I suppose. Meanwhile I have a job at a restaurant which I'm actually quite happy at (get on with coworkers, nice atmosphere etc) but I don't plan on building a career there. I don't want to just waste my degree, ideally I'd like to do something where I can still feel in touch with the world and everyday life etc. but still challenge myself (not necessarily with science but possibly). What are some good career choices that are a good balance between intellectual abstract-ness and social connected-ness? Teaching is a possibility but are there other choices? And does anyone have any general advice in entering a career that is a departure from educational background? Thanks

What are your interests now? What did you like about physics that made you get a degree in it? Do you see yourself sitting behind a desk, public speaking, researching, doing manual labor or lab work? Dancing on Braodway? Try to find a link between your aptitudes and your interests.
