I have a TiVo series 2 Pioneer DVD player it wont connect to internet can i still used the DVR?

  • i have USB eathernet adaptor i had laying around connected and the unit detected it but will not connect via DHCP asks for a DHCP ID since i do not have one it will not connect i got it for the fact its a DVR didnt know it was a TiVO until i brought it home can i still use the DVR? dont care for the TiVO service but it says i cant use it without it cant even watch TV thru it i also have to put a new fan in it i added a HDD fan to the HDD and had to program a remote to work it but the thing never shuts off the Power button only puts it back to TiVO Centeral i dont want this thing on all the time and it takes too long to boot up when unplugged AND BEFORE IT IS SAID I DO NOT WANT A DVR FROM THE CABLE COMPANY BECAUSE I WILL HAVE TO PAY 30 BUCKS A MONTH EXTRA FOR THE DVR UNIT I GOT THIS FOR THE DVR IF I CANT USE IT ILL PART IT OUT AND GO BACK TO RECORDING TO VCR

  • Answer:

The dvr has to be compatible with the Satellite or cable companies main box. If it is, you will still have to pay either tivo or the service provider to use it as a dvr. So I guess you better go back to the vcr.
