How can I legally post a copyrighted song on my YouTube video?

• It got removed for copyright infringement because I used the song Skyscraper by Demi Lovato. Yet no one else who posted a video response using copyrighted music got their video removed. I am willing to do anything to use the song Skyscraper in my video but we all know Demi Lovato is not here to approve of me using her song in my anti bullying video. My video is a response video to Jonah Mawry who is a teen boy that came out as gay and now he gets bullied for it. Lots of people did "it gets better" video responses to him and I want to do mine. So what is the process for getting and being able to legally use a copyrighted song like Skyscraper in my video without it getting removed for copyright infringement? Details are appreciated thanks.

  Using a song in the background of your video like that does not qualify as fair use, which means you require permission from the copyright holder to use it. You need to contact the record label Demi Lovato is signed on (Hollywood Records) about getting permission to use the song in your video. These record labels usually have a fairly standard procedure for this: you fill out the form, pay the royalty fee they charge, and you're set. You don't even really need to explain what it's for.
