Will there be a Death Note Hollywood movie?

Have they started shooting the movie "Death Note" starred by Zac Efron?

  • Honestly, I'm so waiting for that movie. I believe Hollywood will do a better version of that anime than the Japanese movie adaptation. I'm sorry about the fans of the Japanese movie adaptation of that anime, but I really think their movie adaptation hasn't done any justice to that great anime.

    No, I don't even think they have a screen play ready much less a cast. The director Shane Black has said he wants to get Iron Man 3 done before he starts any other projects and he is filming Iron Man 3 now. Call me crazy but I think Zac Efron is a good choice, not the best but good that's if he even gets the part.

Well, the Japanese adaptation comprises two movies, and then a partially related third movie that serves up an alternate history of what would have happened had L been the recipient of the notebook. So since it sounds like you only saw one of them, that could serve to explain your dislike of it. I'm actually more excited about the fact that Shane Black is directing it, and pray they find a more suitable star than Zac Efron, who is way too vanilla to play Light. At least that's who I'm assuming he was being considered for. Anyway, to answer your question, it's slated for a 2014 release, and it has not started shooting yet.
