How do I know he likes me?I know this is asked frequently here but...?

• Well, there is a boy in my class that in 5th grade he teased me, mocked me and said to me: "Elena, you are ugly!" right in my face.Yes I kinda liked him then, but after the rude word I ignored him until I didn't know he was still in my class.Because of him, now I consider myself ugly and stupid.Everytime I look in the mirror I see my ugly version and I want to punch something until my sadness and anger goes away. 2 years have passed and now I am at the end of my 7th grade.I don't know how and why but this dude started to talk to me.From your point of view, if someone in the past offended you and now he simply talks to u, don't u find that suspicious?I mean don't u want to ask him bluntly:"What do u want from me?" Anyway, the point is that he was in a relansionship with a popular girl from my classroom (petite, fluffy,quite fat,smart,blonde,beautiful,green washed eyes and with good personality).Her only defect is that she is a *****.Compared to me (tall, slender, with no meat on me,palid,brown-haired with black eyes, bad personality and quite a girl with strong punches that is always offended, mocked by others) she is a goddess.He started talking to me while he was with her, and things got closer, i think ,and they broke up after 2 weeks. Some say that he only got together with her because he heard she was/is a good kisser (i know pervert!) and some say that he didn't even liked her.His best girl friend said to me one time that he started to like me and that's why he broke up with the blonde one but I just couldn't believe because now I don't have the confidence in me to say that somebody likes me. Now he is always around me, when there aren't many classmates, he comes near me and stays silently with me.He stares at me whenever I am doing something, like drawing or entering the classroom, paying attention to the teacher.Sometimes when I catch him staring he turns his head, looking at something else, but sometimes when I turn around to glance at him he is just looking back with no embarrassment.He smiles at me and his eyes are like scanning me or something like that.When we are at sports he always looks at me or my body or I don't know.... and when he scores at something (he is more an athletic type) looks at me with some kind of expactations.I don't understand! Moreover when he sees me crying he comforts.Now he is complimenting me which is weird for me and he tries to stay on the chair near me through school time.When I sneakly look at him he smiles (he knows, right...).And when he is near me he always says unnecesary stuff, he notices my hair changes..... The problem is that my best friend likes him and he liked her last year but that was just a one month thing, anyway he liked her a little but he screwed her and he played with her.He touched her ,he wanted to get closer to her, fizically and sooooo...Now my friend tells me:"I am just saying, is super suspicious that he started liking you so direct! I don't think he likes you! I think he is just screwing with you head!(of course she still likes him)" I am just saying I dont't know what to do anymore.I don't know what to think.Plus his best girl friend told me last week that he likes me and he wants to be with me and if I will be asked that ,I don't have to be so surprised.She also said that at first, sure, he got closer to me just for his friend which likes me, he wanted to make him jealous but he got to know me well and .... I don't know what to believe!Normally I wouldn't come this far writing this thing, craving for answer but it is driving me cazy and I can't sleep well at night!Please help my soul to be at ease just for one second. Even if nobody asks: I sicerly don't know how I feel about him.I'm afraid that if I will try I will end up in a worse state than I am now (mocked by others) By the way I am new here so I don't know this thing with points or if you can give something as reward....

  You are beautiful no one can tell you otherwise! Yes I am about 99.9% sure he likes you. That other 1% is me uncertain. But by all these mixed signals I am positive he likes you. YES you should get to know him, if he's noticing you DUH he's checking you out. If your friend likes him but he likes you, you will have to let him tell her that, because if you told her there may be a chance she might not believe you. Other then that ask him out, maybe ask if you guys can chill out on the weekends, study together, just be yourself around him. And that girl you see in the mirror, is gorgeous, beautiful, amazing, and has a bright future ahead of her.
