What exactly constitutes a sell-out?

Metallica Black Album was a Sellout?

  • IMO, no. But seems like everyone jumps on board the sellout bandwagon when they got much richer and more famous at this time. Sellout or not? And would they have made the album with Cliff? Just curious what yall are thinking... :)

  • Answer:

I recall a coworker saying the same thing to me back when it came out. Y'know, if the band fired the manager and entered into a contract with a super-producer then I could see being labeled a sellout. No matter what, it was a great album and turned me into a casual fan. I never heard of them prior to that as i was into the grunge sound at the time.

Yes definitively a bandwagon case. The album was good in my opinion. And besides, Metallica wasnt the only band with a "bad" album. There was Risk.

You are talking about an album that is more then 20 years old. It was not one of the best but there issues going on so changes take place.
