What could stop a wii from reading discs?

My wii stopped reading game discs a while back. It's about 4 years old. Yesterday I opened it and swabbed the laser lens with alcohol trying to fix it. It didn't work. However the inside was quite dusty. What else can I do to try and make it work again? I'm a computer specialist so I am capable of doing whatever is necessary. Also I don't want to send it to Nintendo since our warranty is obviously expired by now. If you need to know more "Symptoms" I can easily provide them.

bend the metal arm slightly thats the bit that holds games also coins,extra/non-wii discs paper etc. basically anything that could fit inside it
