Small time Photography Business Name/Tagline Opinions Appreciated?

  • I'm currently opening up a small photography business. I have no intention of making a full income off of the business more so friends, family, word of mouth, enthusiast if you will. If someday down the line I am able to make a full income that is fine but not what i'm striving for. So far I have between 1 and 2 names for my business.. My portfolio includes Portraiture, Family, Glamor, Scenery, and more. I guess you could say a little bit of everything. 1) Sunny Side Of The Street Photography (I really tried playing with the photography at the end to shorten the name. This name really screamed at me and despite it being long is kind of catchy and cheery and very welcoming in my opinion). 2) Reason To Remember Photography (I kinda liked this one but it didn't really scream at me. I would do it if it made more sense for advertising reasons, key words etc) Between those two names I've come up with a couple of tag lines .. 1) Making your memories Last Forever 2) Because cherished moments should last a lifetime 3) Capturing the moments that matter 4) Saving today's memories for tomorrow Opinions, new name suggestions, tag line suggestions are HIGHLY Appreciated. I find that a few of the taglines are generic and I should be trying to aim more towards something that fits the name. Thanks in advance for answers : )

  • Answer:

Your Name Photography. I wouldn't dare go to or trust a photographer who used such cheesy names or taglines, sorry. Using Your Name Photography is the most professional name you can use. It establishes you as a credible professional, not someone who tries to be everything in photography rather than a specialty or two. ETA: You ASKED for opinions and I gave you mine. A business is a business whether you do it part-time or full-time. You just don't half-a** it...you can't! Whether you do it on the side or as your main income you still need to consider taxes, insurance, registering your business, and making sure you have the necessary forms for contracts and releases in order to be on the legal side of things. If YOU are going to be rude and can't handle an honest opinion without getting defensive then you have no business even considering operating any KIND of business. Also, I just love how you're resorting to name calling now. Troll? Uh no. Sorry dear. I've done my research and even though I only do a couple gigs here and there for friends I still do just about everything properly and make sure to handle things professionally when money is changing hands.
