How to split a video by openCV?

I need a way to split video to my capture card and to my tv.?

  • I'm trying to start make commentaries and what not and I have everything set up. I have my Capture card, all the software I need for it, the only thing I'm missing is a way to split the Video so it goes to my capture card and Tv. I have been searching for a Video splitter for years now and I can't find one. Do they even exist? If not, what can I use to split the Video signal? If so, could you please give me a website or a store where I can find them? It would be greatly apprectiated. Just to resum it up. I need a video splitter or a way to split the video coming from my game console and into my TV and Capture Card.

Hi Jo: First, since you didn't say what game console you are capturing from, I'll have to assume (from your other Y!A discussions) that you still have a Nintendo Wii console, and that you are most likely capturing using the AV Cable with a single (yellow - composite) video connection + stereo audio. [If you have the Component (red-green-blue) AV Cable, please let us know via the "Additional Details" link on the Action Bar, since that will require a different kind of splitter-amp. Also, please list what brand and model "capture card" you have, to help with answering.] A "video splitter" is actually called a "distribution amplifier" (or D.A.), and usually also has an audio section for splitting the audio as well. For composite video + 2 audio RCA connections, they typically cost between $40-$80. See this B+H PhotoVideo page for examples: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?srtclk=sort&ci=16663&Ns=p_PRICE_2%7c0&N=4264330153+4276734413+4276734414 D.A.'s come in all sorts of configurations (1-input and so-many outputs). All you need is a "1x2" (1-in and 2-out), but you might find a 1x4 that's actually cheaper, depending on brand, etc. If you are capturing Component Video (3 video RCA plugs + 2 audio), then the price of a D.A. will be a little higher, since it requires 3x the video circuits. Here's an example for $62.50 that does both Component & Composite + Audio: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/852197-REG/RF_Link_AVS_14_4_Port_Component_Composite.html The other alternative, which many YouTube gamers use, is the Hauppauge HD PVR "gamers edition" capture device which has a built-in Component A/V splitter (pass-thru) for the TV display. hope this helps, --Dennis C.

Most people record their game play by hooking the game machine to either a DVR or DVD recorder then to TV. I have seen a radio shack device that could take multiple video sources and run them to a TV, one at a time. You could hack that to do what you want to do. Or they play the game and have separate recording devices for audio capture in the room.
