How do I hide the webcam icon?

I have a second laptop- A macbookpro that I know nothing about! I need to hide the safari Icon & can't?

  • I need to first hide this Icon, then even renaming it would be preferable. I have pertinent reasons for doing this ( has to do with saved passwords/divorce....). I am so clueless on a mac I can't even manage to hide the Icon, when I press hide it does nothing.

    Pull it off the dock, usually that removes it. Be careful of placing it in the trash. Apples are awesome cuz once u delete one "icon" or whatever, it deletes the entire program from all folders and from the hard drive completely, instead of pc's that leave fragments of the program in numerous locations. As far as removing it from the application folder or from the finder, I'm not sure that's even possible without removing the program from the computer entirely. Why don't u set up a guest login and remove safari from there and only keep it on your login?

Its apple's default browser just as windows has internet explorer the mac has safari. It is not possible for consumers to change the name of the default programs and I believe though you can change or costumize the apps that appear on thr dock go to system preferences and navigate through the dock settings
