How long does green algae grow?

L want to start an algae culture l have no where to find any algae how do l make the algae grow in my tank?

• l want to investigate the oil produced by algae so l need to culture the algae first, grow it and harvest so, l need to know how to grow the algae from scratch, l have no other source of the algae. l want to grow it in a tank.
