How can i find my engine code if not on the engine?

  • hi everyone how can i find my engine code if not on the engine my rod end as gone though my engine on my camper its 1647cc 1985 renault romance .i have found a engine 1647cc from renault with a missing pisten and rod end can i use my top of engine and fix it to the bottom of the other engine thanks in advance

    On a Renault that age your looking for the OVAL PLATE and guess what it's ovaL Shaped. trouble is renault could put them anywhere,drivers door pillar,passengers,under the bonnet. and as long as the engine is unchanged from new the Information on the oval plate is all you'll need.

from your log book [owners docs chassis number is there too

Check your log book / V5C as mentioned, it should be in there. It will be on your engine somewhere, but it's French so good luck finding it as you've seen!

If both engines are the same then the parts will be interchangeable. The engine info should be contained within the VIN number.
