What do French people think of other French speaking countries?

How come people from other countries do not want to learn English?

  • I mean I hear people from other countries talking to others in their language, but they when talking to them in English they do not talk in English. Also I hear on the scanner 'Language barrier' [when there is a need for the police or fire], it is like other countries hate English speaking people. Why do others not want to learn English for? Also sometimes I hear on the scanner where people from other countries hang up on the operator [911] before the switch to police or fire. I think that when people come to live in the U.S.A. they should learn how to speak, this way it will not be hard for us English speaking people to feel like we are outsiders in our own country.     They do not want to learn because they don't know english and they like to talk with other peoples in their language. They don't feel comfortable to learn english.

One who lives in the U.S. and doesn't want to learn English is a pure moron to me. Even if you live in some country of which the main language is not English, you should learn how to speak English. One language for all would be much easier for everybody. I'd be happy if we could eliminate all the other languages some day, and the entire world would speak one language!
