Help me choose a longboard!?

Please help me choose a longboard!?

  • I'm 16 and I need a longboard to get to school. I already skateboard and I'm somewhat good. I don't really do tricks, most important for me is getting around. I'm gonna have to go downhill and uphill, go against curbs, cracks in the sidewalk and avoid people. What type of deck, trucks, and wheels should I go with? Or maybe there's a good complete that would work well? Any suggestions are welcome :) Oh, and if it helps I windsurf too.

    It depends on your price range...and it's all based on opinion. Just find a board shop near you and try out all the boards until you find the right one. I personally have a landyachtz 9two5, and I like It like a lot..its a little heavy though, not great for carrying around school. Get bear trucks though, every other truck I have tried cannot cannot compare. The wheel and wheel durometer depends on what you plan on doing.

Sector 9 Pintails are kind of the standard longboard, definitely good to get. If its just for getting around it honestly doesn't matter what board or trucks you get, whatever board looks cool to you. The only thing to be cautious about is some boards have a 'w' curve to them and if you think that would be uncomfortable don't get that. The important thing is to keep your bearings clean otherwise you can end up having to push A LOT and it sucks. The scale used to measure hardness goes like this: the lower the number the softer it is and the higher the number the harder it is. They only make wheels in the range of like 70a-90a so anything that is 76a or lower is good.
