Where are some good trails to Hike around the Grand Canyon?

Any safe hiking trails to hike alone in San Diego?

• I live in south San Diego and love to hike but do not have anyone to hike with during the week. Are there any safe hiking trails in san diego to hike during the day alone?

  I suggest you buy a copy of a book by Jeremy Schad called Afoot and Afield in San Diego. the book is a classic and has hikes arranged by area and classified as to level of difficulty, out and back, etc. in general, it is not a good idea to hike alone, although I must admit I do it all the time. it is not sexist of me to say, that the risks are a bit different for a woman. that said, i think the urban trails are safer to hike alone as long as you are doing it in broad daylight and carrying your cell. Penasquitos Canyon, Cowles Mt,, Mission Trails, Torrey Pines come to mind. the hikes out in the county, in the mountains and deserts, are more iffy. there is always a chance you can fall or otherwise sprain or break an ankle or leg and then you are in trouble if you are alone. good luck. buy the book or see if it is at your library.
