What is it like to be a medical assistant?

What is the difference between a certified medical assistant and a clinical medical assistant?

  • I'm thinking about taking these classes for this program my school offers but i need to know the difference between these first..All i really know is that the certified clinical medical assistant gets paid about 2 dollars more an hour but i just wanted to know what they both do and the differences. Like does the certified clinical medical assistant do more office work than assisting people? And also which one do you think is better? Please answer, Thanks.

  • Answer:

The certified means the MA has passed the NCCT certifying exam; other wise they could be identical -remember there is no law that regulates terminology-a school can call things almost anything they want. You would have to do a head on comparison of the two and see if there was any difference at all. For the most part, MAs do about the same thing but their training can be front office, back office or both and that may impact the "terms" used, but it is an arbitrary one.

There both basically the same. The certified MA would deal with a bit more paperwork.
