Have you ever heard Vietnamese Jazz songs?

What should I take? Jazz or Ballet?

  • Right now I'm in Advanced tap. I love it. We have a show every other year. In the fall, will be our show year and I'd really like to do something besides just tap for the show. I love tap SO much. It's cardio (especially the dances MY instructor choreographs for us. they are KILLER but still fun & awesome) What are the differences between contemporary and lyrical dance? I'm thinking it means that contemporary is more upbeat & fast dancing (like jazz) & lyrical is more emotional, slow dancing to ballads or sad songs lol. am i correct? Anyhoo here's what I like about Jazz: The Jazz instructor is my Tap instructor. I love their dances & I've even taken one of her jazz classes before. I really enjoy more upbeat dances & where you can really let loose but still be focused and controlled on the steps. Like some of the contemporary dances on Dance Moms (i love that show!) Here's what I think about Ballet: It is BEAUTIFUL. The pointe dancers are awesome! They're really in shape, and usually really flexible. The only thing I have a problem with is all the french terminology... I love how pretty it looks. The dancers look flawless, so do the tu-tu's & moves do as well. However ballet seems a bit more stressing to me than any other style of dance. Less fun. i took ballet when i was 6 during a show year and i knew it was pretty but then i said it was boring and moved onto jazz. Idk why i moved from jazz lo. i heard ballet is like the center of all dance or something like that. how so? Which one should I pick? Im not quitting tap and I can only take two classes so it's either ballet and tap or jazz and tap. I know this is a lot but i would appreciate it if someone would help me make this decision so that i can practice in the summer and already be introduced to some of the moves i don't know very well. Thank you!

I'd recommend you jazz. You wanna enjoy it and have fun don't you ? Then jazz is the one for you, plus ballet is really , really slaving.

i take tap also luv it 2 it give u alot of leg strength so its good for when u turn in any class. Ballet takes ALOT of patience. Jazz and llyrical are more dancing a lot. comtemperary and lyrical are very similar but lyrical tends 2 have emotional songs. I cant really say what to take, bcuz i dont knomw u but hope this comparason helped

i'd suggest ballet for one main reason: it is the fundamental of dance. Tap and Jazz are my main styles, but i take short ballet classes once a week. Taking ballet will not only make you even better in tap (you can't believe how much of an impact it made on my tapping ability) but also, if you do decide to ever take jazz (which i totally suggest you do at some point or another) it will help you greatly, and you will pick up the style much quicker. You don't have to go intensely into ballet (unless you want to), but taking ballet will certainly improve quite honestly everything about your dancing skill and technique.
