Windows Installer/ Windows Update XP?

Tried to download Java for Minecraft, noticed this problem went on Microsoft site can't get it fixed. Can't use windows installer and cannot update gives me an error code "Error number: 0x80070424" Any useful solutions to these problems would be great.
