How to unlock my phone without my password?

• Okay so 2 days ago this annoying kid in my school took my phone (HTC Eris Android) from me and decided to run away with it until I had class with him. I did not have a password for my phone because I have a hard time remembering passwords so he decided to set a password on it himself "as a joke." I asked him if he could unlock it for me but when he tried he didn't remember the f*cking password and told me I can get in with my google account. Turns out I DID NOT HAVE A GOOGLE ACCOUNT WITH THE PHONE so now I cannot get into my phone. I called verizon and they said they can't do anything about it unless they reset my phone and delete all the data on my phone. ALL OF MY contacts, texts, apps, and other stuff will be gone so idk what to do. Is there any way I can get into my phone without my password?..

  If it's locked by a password, you don't know the password, and you didn't have it linked to a Google account then there is nothing you can do. Just use it as a learning opportunity. Lessons to be learned from this experience: 1) Take better care of your valuables. Don't leave them out where people can take them. 2) Don't have your phone out in school. 3) Keep better tabs on your digital life... backup important data. Regarding #3 above, here's what you should do with your phone once you do a factory reset on it... 1) Link it to a Google Account 2) Move all of your contacts off of the phone and into the Google account 3) Set up SMS Backup+ to automatically backup SMS, MMS, and call logs to your gmail account: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync 4) Apps are easy to reinstall, but if any of them have useful data then they usually have a backup option, so use that regularly. If you're rooted, then you can use Titanium Backup instead of apps' built in backup/restore functions, but that's not totally necessary. If you do that, then all your data will be mostly recoverable if anything like this happens in the future.
