What is a purchase charge on a gift card?

Can I buy an in app purchase with iTunes gift card?

  • If I buy an extension within an app, will it charge my credit card or my gift card that i already have redeemed? I read that apple gets 30% of in app purchase profits so I don't know. Anyone tried this? Does it charge the gift card or the credit card? I'm thinking the credit card...

  • Answer:

I am not 100% clear about what you mean by "an extension" within the app - but I am pretty sure you mean like an "in - application" purchase or buy? If so, the whole "iTunes" gift card can be pretty misleading ... I mean, something like "iPhone Credit" or something would be much more helpful, because most automatically think they are redeeming a gift card that can only manage purchases for the iTunes store. With an iTunes giftcard, you are basically allowed to buy anything as long as it belongs to Apple. So, if the app was from the App Store (how could it not?) then yes, I am pretty sure your in app purchase & whatever it is that your little heart desires will NOT be charged against you and will go to your giftcard. Of course, I am not 100% sure but I can get on it (let's say 96% - lol) I honestly hope I helped! Good Luck (: <Smiley13!>

As long as you redeem the gift card, it will go off your gift card.
