I need help with science.

Hi guys. I need help with deciding what science to take next year?

  • So this is my dilemma. I am currently a junior in high school. And next year as a senior I will be taking Spanish 5 Ap Psychology Ap Pre Calc American Gov/Econ English 4 I am still not sure what science to take because Freshman year I started with Earth Science. To be honest, I did not really care that year and I did bad and my teacher signed me in to Life Science. But I'm not stupid so I ACED both semesters in that class and my teacher even told me that I shouldn't have been in that class. So then she signed me in to biology for my junior year so I wouldn't have to take Physical Science or oceanography. This year, I have ACED the class again and my teacher signed me in to Chemistry Honors. But since most of my junior class is taking Chem this year, they're take Physics next year. I was looking at the A-G requirements and it says we need 2 of the three sciences which are BIO, CHEM, and PHYSICS. So i was wondering if you think I should talk to my counselor to see if I can be in Physics instead. I really want to take that class but I am scared I won't be aloud. ALSO, do you think I need to have had chemistry in order to do well in physics? Please help??

    You will not need chemistry to do well in physics. In college you will need chemistry if you plan on studying biology, but biology in high school is possible without chemistry. If you need to be switched out of a class, you would have to ask your counselor or teachers. As a biology teacher, I have to recommend that you take biology, for it is truly the most interesting subject in the world. Good luck in all of your future endeavors.

First its "allowed". (Sorry, had to correct it lol) secondly, talk to your counselor, that is what they are there for. Lastly, you do not need to know chem to take physics. They are two entirely different courses. Physics is how everything works. Ask if you can take both. You seem smart, it would help when you get to college.
