How does lime juice preserve an apple?

I'm making jungle juice for a party, and I need help!!!?

• okay so i have 2 different recipes, and ive never actually made jungle juice before. but i have had it, and i love it. so tell me which recipe you think is better, and if you have any good recipes of your own that'd be great! :) RECIPE #1 2 (750 milliliter) bottles rum 1 (750 milliliter) bottle vodka 1 (750 milliliter) bottle 190 proof grain alcohol 1 gallon cranberry juice 1 (2 liter) bottle chilled lemon-lime soda 1 quart grape juice 4 cups halved fresh strawberries 12 kiwis, peeled and quartered 6 oranges, peeled and segmented 1 bunch grapes, separated and rinsed 1 large watermelon, cubed and seeded RECIPE #2 1 bottle of Everclear (This is the most important alcohol) 1 bottle of Peach Schnapps 1 fifth of Vodka 1 bottle of apple schnapps 5 Bottles of fruit punch 2 bottles of orange juice 2 L of clear soda Fruit (cut up a bunch of apples, oranges, and limes). Mix in the fruit and let it soak in the Jungle Juice overnight any kind of response or help is greatly appreciated! thank you!! :)

  I'm not familiar with the formula for jungle juice, but a good drink is ; 1 part 190 proof alcohol (Everclear, etc.), 1 part grapefruit juice (this covers up the alcohol taste), and 2 parts orange juice. You can adjust to taste. This taste good, and you get vitamin C. Plus, you will have less of a hangover.
