Which one of the following molecules has a net dipole charge?
-
a. Cl2 b. H2 c.I2 d. BrCl Ok you have a dipole when you have a positive end and a negative end on the same molecule. But, above I see CL2. Cl2 is a nonpolar substance, no dipole charge = no dipole moment. Wouldnt it be the same for I2? And possibly H2 even though H has a positive charge? So would that just leave me with d. BrCl??? Thank You!!!

Answer:
Yeah BrCL, because the other molecules are symmetrical and thus the dipoles cancel out.
