How do i download Left 4 dead PC maps?

Windows security updates? (PC not shutting off)?

  • My Windows 7 Home basic PC with 4 gigs of RAM and 1TB memory space recently had some updates pop up ready to be installed as it's on automatically download and install Windows Updates, and they install upon me rebooting my PC. However this time, my PC said ''Installing Window Update 1 of 1'' for longer than I had anticipated, so I ended up going to bed to let it finish. When I awoke the next morning it was still on the same screen as I had left it before I had gone to bed 5 hours earlier, and still it had not rebooted as it normally does. So I was left with the desperate last resort of manually switching the power off during this never ending Window Installation process. When I had rebooted and logged back in, a few of my programs failed to launch (specifically Itunes) a few gave reasons for not launching such as ''Missing or corrupt file'' Which is obviously due to me switching it off when I wasn't supposed to, but I honestly had no choice. Also, when I tried to install new applications, no new applications would install. So I accessed system restore in Safe Mode which seemed to solve all of my problem. However.. A week later when my PC next prompted me to install windows live updates, I willingly installed them and rebooted hoping the worst of my problems were behind me, they weren't. Once again, as it was shutting down it had seemed to be stuck on the Windows Live security updates again and failed to reboot. How should I go about resolving this issue? I don't want to have to ''System Restore'' every time I get a Windows Live security update, so my applications will respond once again. Is it recommended that I install Windows Updates? Or are they for the most part useless? As of 5 minutes ago I began manually installing each update one by one, which seems to be working, though the one that I have yet to install says its size is in the vicinity of 87-700 MB's, which surprised me; I wasn't aware updates came in that size and perhaps this is too big for me PC to swallow in one go? Thanks for all your help!
