Where do you put custom content in Sims 2 Double Delux?

Installing Sims 3 custom content?

  • I am having trouble installing custom content onto my sims 3 game. I downloaded Zipeg to unzip files which worked well until I came upon files that were .RAR or something like that. The program sometimes unzips the .RAR programs but usually doesn't. So I tried downloading some programs to convert these files to zip and of course they didn't work. Each time I download something it either won't download because it conflicts with the current program or it's just a giant cycle of opening the file in one program and going through all of them until I end up back in the same program. I have downloaded Zipeg, Keka, 7-Zip (didn't know it was for PC), iUnarchive, and other recommended programs. I also tried to manually put the content into the EA Sims 3 downloaded folder but it doesn't actually install onto my game. What am I doing wrong? Can someone please help me? I have a MacBook Pro if that is needed information. I suck at computer stuff! Thank you so much!

  • Answer:

Keka is probably the easiest one to use for Mac, I use a PC normally so I can't explain the details of exactly how that works but there's a decent explanation on the Keka help pages of how exactly to use it here: http://www.kekaosx.com/en/doc.php#extract The only files that you can install through your sims 3 Downloads folder are sims3pack files, anything other than that will be the .zip, .rar or .7z files you mentioned which MUST have the files extracted from them before they can be installed. If the extracted file is a sims3pack file, you can go ahead and double click to install or put it in your Sims 3 Downloads folder to install via the Downloads tab in the launcher. If the extracted file is a package file, it needs to go in your Packages folder inside your Mods folder. My simple guide here: http://scribblingsbyme.blogspot.co.uk/p/tutorial-installing-package-file.html should help you out with that. It takes you through everything really slowly, so you can check through and make sure you've got everything in the right place, and it'll show you where everything needs to go. It's based on PC instructions, but there's basically no difference for Mac other than you'll use Keka instead of 7zip to extract the files. :)
