Whats better to become a CTO, CEO? CFA & CPA or MBA?
-
I am a single 34 yr old software engineer with a 8+ yrs of exp, Masters degree in CS, PMP cert, with experience in MS, CISCO & ORACLE products and good hardware experience. I manage my own financials (stocks, bonds- reasonable knowledge). My question is - to go up in the ladder towards a CTO or a CEO of an IT company - what should I do? MBA (part-time offcourse) is expensive for me but I can manage with some loans without getting burnt. But I was wondering if doing CPA & CFA would be a good alternative for MBA. But I dont want to be stamped as a an accountant or end up in a hedge fund after my CPA/CFA. Also, am I too old to do CPA & CFA? I see that the average age is late 20s for these certs and I would be 37 if I start preparing for these today. Appreciate you replies.

Answer:
accounting has nothing to do with this, that would just be redundant.
