Where are some cat kennels?

My cat hates my dog.. Any help?

  • Right, so about 3-4 years ago my family got a dog from the kennels, roughly about 5years old now. He is a big dog (Irish wolf hound mix) and then about 1-2 years ago, I bought two cats from the rescue place. They were rough 8-9 and 9-10 when we got them. The dog is male, and I have a female and male cat. My cat really dislikes my dog, and will go out of his way to attack our dog. The female cat wasn't too bothered at first, but has seen her brother attacking the dog, and is now wary herself and hisses at the dog. It was never really bad, but it's gotten worse recently. We can't install baby gates or anything, and the cats are free to roam outside with the dog as its a big garden. However, the cats used to jump out the bathroom window onto the roof, but now the male cat stalks our dog and sits behind doors waiting to attack. He roams through the kitchen to go outside just to attack the dog. The dog is really friendly, and wouldn't dream of hurting the cat, but it's gotten to the point where he will lash out soon, and the cat will get hurt. What can I do to stop my cats attacking the dog? The dog is friendly with the female, but as soon as her brother is around, she attacks the dog. I have tried telling the cat off, and I constantly have to put him out the room, if I pick him up he scratches me all over. Thank you, Kat.

    Rub a clean sock or towel over your dog . ( keep dog and cats separate for a week) for this week introduce the dogs smells to the cats with the sock. The cats will hiss and react but do this daily for at least a week but stroke or feed them a nice food as you present them the sock so they realise the dog is good ( rub the sock on the dog daily till it stinks of your dog) . When the cats no longer react so badly to the sock bring your dog in the house but have him restrained as he is not the reacting one. Let the cats sniff him all over if they start to hiss or scratch him discourage it with a loud clap . When they sniff the dog nicely pet ur cat or give it a treat I like to use whiskas temptations when training a cat

My cat hates my dog (my dog always chases my cats so she gets scared) But they have gotten better about it. Hope they stop fighting! You dont need to resort to getting rid of any pets. I found this: Go slow. Animals need time to get to know each other. They are much more likely to fight or be unhappy if you try to force them together suddenly. Say, "Oh, look, Puppy, Kitty's here! Yay!" and sound very happy and give the dog a small training treat. Your dog will soon learn to associate pleasant feelings with the cat.Provide your cat a place where she/he can get out of reach of your dog. Cats will generally attack a dog only when backed into a corner with no way to avoid the dog. Hold your cat in your arms until she/he is calm and relaxed. Then ask a family member or friend to slowly bring your dog into the room. Gradually bring the dog closer in small steps, waiting for your cat and dog to both settle down as each step of the way before getting closer. Kick the cat out. Or you do the same to the cats...I do not know. Complicated issue. Maybe an animal psychologist can help.
