Working holiday visa for Canada?

Can I enter Canada on a working holiday visa while the application for spouse visa is in process?

  • Hi, I have a question about Canadian spouse visa (de fact relationship) and any advice would be great. My boyfriend from Quebec and I have been living together for almost a year in Australia. Once we satisfy the 12 month requirement, I am planning on applying for the spouse visa outside Canada. This will be around September or October this year. Then, I am planning on moving to Canada in January 2013. I would like to have the right to work immediately when I arrive, and I am eligible to apply for a working holiday visa. If I apply for a working holiday visa while the spouse visa application is in process, would this new application affect the spouse visa application? Another question is that if I apply for the spouse visa outside Canada, do I also need to be outside when they grant me the visa as well? It seems like this is not a requirement with Canadian immigration, but I couldn't find the information to confirm it. Thanks.

CPG has your answer. You need the VISA to enter and stay in Canada. You can apply for more than one. You MAY be admitted under a visitor category but you cannot just move to Canada. Part of the process is having a job BEFORE you come. You are expected to be able to look after your needs in Canada. You do not need to be Outside of Canada when a visa is granted.. Are you MOVING to Canada or not. You do not make it clear if you are only coming for a short time. BOYFRIEND is not SPOUSE.Reread the application process and just follow the instructions http://www.cic.gc.ca/app/ctcvac/english/index http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/australia-australie/visas/index.aspx?lang=eng&menu_id=4&view=d https://www.whpcanada.org.au/ There are over 1,000,000 visa applications in process Complicating your application process will not speed the granting of a VISA and could slow the process by many months. As multiple files are cross checked.

Other answers

1) Generally speaking, having two simultaneous applications does not have an affect on either one. You can have two concurrent applications. 2) A Visa is only issued from outside of a country (since a visa is only required to enter a country), if you are already in Canada, you are not applying for a visa. Perhaps you are adjusting status or need to re-enter-- I am sure someone more familiar with Canadian immigration law than I will be a long shortly.
