How can you tell if your bearded dragon is sick?

How can you tell if a bearded dragon is a boy our girl?

  • I bought my bearded dragon at a petsmart in NY and they never told me what kind it was our if it was a boy our girl. Im just really curiouse on if it's a boy our girl. Can anybody help me? :/

    You cant tell until theyre about 9-12 inches. Put it on a flat surface and gently bend the tail over its back (not all the way) If its a male, you will see 2 bumps above the anus. If its a female, you will see one or even none. Also as males mature, they do alot of head bobbing and they get femoral pores which are these raised bumps along theyre inner thighs. And Tori, im not trying to be mean or anything, but color has nothing to do with sex, i have a very bright yellow and orange female, and a very dull grey and black male.

hold it in your hand and gently grab its tail close the the hind legs. lift the tail and look. if there are two bumps its a male. if there is one its female. this is how i figured out mine was a male. i dont know how good this works on younger lizards but if its about 10 inches or longer this should work.

Well, I used to have a bearded dragon..They're amazing, but there was no way we could tell. I think you need a specialist or some sort of person to tell. The only reason we found out it was a girl was when it laid eggs(no babies came out though) But yeah...

Well, first off, be careful. 95% of dragons bought from commercial pet stores die. I was lucky my two babies survived there young years - now 5, and happy. You can't tell until they are older. Once you can tell - I would say 8 months to a year - try to *gently* lift up there tail. One large bump just below there um...anus, means a girl. Two means a boy. Good luck!

you can sex a bearded dragon....i did it to mine but a big indication is if you beardy is very colorful or very dull pale colors.....pale colors indicate a female and a vibrant colored beardy in an indication of a male....there are also youtube vids about how to sex a bearded dragon
