Whats the best free video editing software?

  • i make youtube videos and need a video editor i tried videopad but it was only a trial.i liked it so if there are any like it or just any free ones it would help

  • Answer:

The best video editing software is not free. Anyway, try the following: Free (good for basic editing): Windows Movie Maker (it might already be installed on your computer) Lightworks http://lightworksbeta.com (very powerful, but rather complicated) VirtualDub http://virtualdub.org (must have for avi trimming) Avidemux http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/ (simple cutting, filtering and encoding) Wax: http://www.debugmode.com/wax/ (effects) Inexpensive and easy to use (both have free trial period): AVS: http://avs-video-suite.org (includes Video/Audio/Photo editors, converters and much more, 18 tools suite) Movavi: http://movavi.org (Video Editor/Converter, Screen Recording, Slideshow Creator and a whole lot more) Make your choice! and good luck!

For Windows, the general consensus is Windows Movie Maker, which is available for Windows OSes up to Vista (but not Windows 7). In Windows 7, they stopped including it by-default, though you can download it for free as "Windows Live Movie Maker" with a somewhat easier user-interface compared to older versions. For Linux, there's a pretty good video editor called Openshot that can export to places like YouTube and Vimeo. Youtube themselves have the Youtube Video Editor, though I haven't tried it in a while. Last time I checked it was pretty good for editing/transforming clips you've already uploaded to make new clips. Don't ask me what's available for you in the Mac world - I still haven't figured out how to use single-button mice... Good luck! Wire

Hi U BE DA MAN, For a free, basic and online video editor, just use YouTube. Upload your videos, you will see an option for editing, or Window Movie Maker: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/movie-maker-get-started You can also try AVS Video Editor which has a lot of good features. http://www.cloverplaza.net/discount-software-shop/products.php?product=AVS-Video-Editor This is the link to the step-by-step tutorials that show how to edit videos using AVS Video Editors such as adding effects, cutting, trimming, freezing, video/image overlay, etc... http://www.cloverplaza.net/tag/avs-video-editor/ Hope these help.
