How do I get my iPhone videos onto my computer?

So, I'm not very technologically smart when it comes to this sort of thing and I hope I don't sound like a total idiot but I'm really confused about this. When I go to import my photos and videos from my iPhone my photos go into windows photo gallery and my videos can only be opened in QuickTime. When I import from my camera, both the photos and videos go into windows photo gallery. Is there any way to get my iPhone videos to open there too? I can't seem to do anything with the videos through QuickTime and they are kind of hard for me to access, but like I said, I really don't know much about this.
Answer:

The iphone video format is .mov a special format that can be only opened by Quicktime Player so when you have copied videos to a folder you ca double click on it to open it with Quicktime player or just download "AllShow Player" which can open any format of videos...
