How long does hay fever last?

How to stop Hay fever (natural ways)?

  • I've suffered with hay fever all my life but now I’m getting older it’s becoming more of a problem – what with my exams and possible job interviews. The nurse told me to build up a defence which is what I have been doing for the past few years now, but each year it doesn't seem to work. The pollen that affects me most is mostly grass pollen and nasal spray never seems to work for me. Other: I have a cat but she doesn’t go outside, plus I tend to avoid her during the hay fever season I keep my widow and bed room door shut so no pollen can get in I take a shower ever night and change my clothes so no pollen is on them I try my hardest not to go outside during the hay fever season It’s mostly a blocked nose I get, my eyes don’t get very irritated As I said above, nasal spray doesn’t work on me (I’ve had hay fever since I was a baby and it’s never been useful) I am getting a little desperate now. I just want to know if there is a natural way of preventing hay fever, like drinking tea or something rather than barricading myself in my room until July. Thanks

Splash your face and eyes regularly with cold water to wash away pollen. "For red, inflamed eyes, try applying used chamomile tea bags. Allow them to cool first. To stop pollens and dust getting up your nose, try applying a plain hypoallergenic cream around the nostrils. A saline nasal spray or nasal wash can help relieve inflamed sinuses. Having good levels of the probiotics bifidobacteria and lactobacilli may also protect against allergic rhinitis in children.. So check that your yogurt contains the good bacteria, or ask your health food store to recommend a good probiotic supplement. Homeopathy offers a wide range of safe.Homeopathic remedies are selected according to each person's individual physical, mental and emotional symptoms. some of most common remedies include: •Natrum muriaticum: for watery discharge; when sneezing causes involuntary urination. •Nux vomica: for a runny nose during the day, which is dry at night; irritable and impatient mood; a person who feels worse in the morning, better in open air. •Euphrasia: for acrid irritating eye discharge; a person who feels better for wiping the eyes. •Allium cepa: for frequent violent sneezing; acrid nasal discharge; red inflamed eyes; when a person feels better in cool open air. •Wyethia: for extreme itching of the palate. "Consult your homeopath before the allergy season begins, so they can give you a constitutional remedy," Constitutional homeopathy works on the person who has the allergy, rather than the allergen itself. It balances your state and hence the immune response to the allergen, which may help to reduce the intensity and frequency of the actual episode in the long run."

It does sound like you're doing all the right things. I know you want natural ways; have you talked to your doctor about immunotherapy? A HEPA unit in your bedroom might help. The only other thing I could suggest is an OTC medication containing pseudoephedrine, which is not natural, but it is very drying.
