Is it hard to find a job as a LVN?

Lvn-rn 30 unit option. Has anyone done this? I know that a license is awarded but no degree. I Need more info.?

  • I'm going to be an lvn soon and I like the sound of this option. It will save time and money cuz community colleges offer it. I just want to know the pros and cons to it. Is it easy to find a job having done this 30 unit option? And can one further education after doing this?

  • Answer:

What is the school's name? Is the program accredited? Is it a diploma program instead of an Associates Degree program? You have to get some kind of diploma or degree in order to be eligible for licensure as an RN. They do NOT award your nursing license, that's something you have to take a test for and the state issues your license, not the school. I think you need to do some more research because you don't sound like you're sure about the process and you would have to get a degree if it's offered by a community college. Once you get your RN license, you should have plenty of job options, although they might not be your ideal job in a specialty area that you want. You might have to work nights to start with, just to get some work experience and to get into a facility where you could transfer to a better job later. But as an RN you will be set for life, it's one of the most stable career paths out there. And yes, you can continue your education, complete a BSN, even go to graduate school to earn a Masters or Doctorate degree in Nursing and specialize as a Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Educator, Nurse researcher, become an administrator, etc.
